| ART4FREEDOM meaning: |
My ART4FREEDOM is about the freedom of dancing.
"You are art. You were created. Express yourself artistically. You are beautiful.” These words were spoken to me by my house dance teacher Sekou Heru. I’ve always done so by drawing throughout my life. But a bit over a year ago, I got into dancing - house dance to be specific. This piece expresses the freedom and joy of life that house dance evokes in me. The dance style, the music and the community are so breathtakingly beautiful - it's about a constant exchange, support, being in your creative zone, self-discovery, love and dancing together, no matter who you are. Dance and Art are ways to stay human and express ourselves freely. All these emotions and thoughts were the fuel that inspired me for this drawing and what freedom means for me. I am still at the beginning of becoming a house head, enjoying the process and learning the basics so I can move freely. And I can’t wait to see what lays ahead. May we all dance, be free and have the right to be ourselves. IAM4FREEDOM! |
