ART4FREEDOM title: |
We Matter Too, Black Lives
|
ART4FREEDOM meaning: |
My ART4FREEDOM is about how everyone should be free to be themselves, no matter what their race or color.
I am an autistic African American Woman, age 24 and always thinking about using my art skills as a way to speak out for freedom and justice. When the Black Lives Matter protests were going on, I wanted to figure out a way to help. The problem was I couldn't think up a good composition yet. It had to be personal, as well as something for the greater good. Then, I saw my sister, Alyssa, wearing her hair out as an Afro. That's when the inspiration I needed to get the job done hit me. Thus, I created a symbol to fight for African American's rights. I share this here as my own special way to show my support and care. The system has to change so the death of innocent lives should find justice. An injustice that has been going on for way too long has to be put right. we are all equal and we all want to be free.
