| ART4FREEDOM meaning: |
My ART4FREEDOM was a contribution for Gehitu Magazine, a periodic publication of Gehitu, an association from the Basque Country that helps the LGBT community live their sexuality in a free, conscious and informed way.
I decided to prepare an illustration in which two girls in love would appear sharing a hobby. I opted for the protagonists to be lesbian women because they are still quite invisible, not only in society in general, but also with respect to gay men. To relegate women to the background seems, sadly, somewhat transversal. By representing them skydiving, I wanted to show them as brave, active and decisive women, who know what they want and don't give up on it, no matter how others may react. They’re lesbian women, in short, who feel free to live their lives in their own way, as we should all. IAM4FREEDOM! |
