My ART4FREEDOM was created during the end of a long friendship. Between the text messages and in-person conversations that ended the friendship, I was literally sketching and painting her. So, during what was a turbulent two days for me, she was the outlet into which I poured my emotions. Rage, disappointment, hopelessness, and relief backs this painting. And relief seems out of place and weak when mixed in with the other emotions; but, it actually outweighs the others. Freeing myself from an enraging, disappointing, and hopeless relationship, has brought me undeniable amounts of relief. Which brings me to the point behind the piece…
RISE! was created to empower women to free themselves from toxic situations. Whether that situation relates to one’s economic status, romantic or platonic relationships, habits and addictions, or something else, everyone has the right to take steps toward bettering their situation. We all deserve to feel appreciated, and respected, and no one and nothing has the right to make us feel less than what we are and that we are not capable people. Intelligence. Talent. Wisdom. Determination. Each woman has the strength they need to free themselves. No doubt the journey will be challenging. There will be times you’d want to backtrack, relapse, rethink your decisions, but don’t. Take every step to free yourself from what’s keeping you down and keeping you back. The freedom and the benefits that come with it, are worth it. IAM4FREEDOM! |
