My ART4FREEDOM is about how, at times, we all need to escape the cruelty of oppression, violence, bullying and abuse. This is why I portrayed an image of Yuri Katsuki, from ‘Yuri on Ice’, is a non-traditional gay anime romance, that helps me dream off and fantasize.
Since Bolsonaro winning the elections in 2018, people in Brazil are feeling more free to be openly homophobic. I was scared, but still motivated to celebrate pride! However, sometimes, I just need a break from all the drama. I close my eyes to reality and see the light of a heart-warming fictional world, where love is allowed to flow free, as prejudice never existed there. We should be free, to be who we are. We should be free to love who we love and, sometimes, we should also be free, to rest and watch some gay love - even if it is just a video - to recharge our batteries and grow our hope for the future of freedom.
