Get Free
My ART4FREEDOM, was inspired by one of the many waterfalls in my home country, Guyana. During the earlier stages of COVID, when frequent quarantines and lockdowns started reminding people just how beautiful the outside and nature itself can be, and we all so long to be free, I decided to do a composite of one of my country's own attractions.
The title "Get Free" was chosen due to lyrics of one of a song I was listening to at the time (by Major Lazer). The lyrics, "Look at me... We could never get free - I just wanna be - I just wanna dream", helped me set the tone. I intended for it to look like a fantasy but at the same time give off the feeling that "it's just one step away, or in this case, one more lockdown away". Yet, I wanted to give the viewer hope that sooner or later, they would feel like they could simply walk through the passageway in this picture, experience the bliss of nature and be free again. IAM4FREEDOM!
P.S. The Name of this waterfall is "Kaieteur Falls".
