The Restrictions Of Being A Colored Woman
My ART4FREEDOM is about how men restrict a (black) women's freedom and her right to be herself.
It took me a while before I could really understand the meaning behind the colors as I just saw it as an ordinary project that I had to finish. As I proceeded, I noticed a specific pattern of symbolism and then I realized that it had a bigger meaning than what I anticipated. Therefore, I started inputting importance in the specific colors I use in different parts of the body and that made a difference to the entire meaning. For instance, like the way, I used specific colors to represent the fruit rather than making them a different color. These fruits represent the reward women get, which is their children. In the end, it is about the way black women, and probably every other women’s freedom, have been restricted, especially to the stereotypes of our society. It is time that all women, whatever color they may be are free to be who they want to be. IAM4FREEDOM!
